Bloomfield Avenue Infill

Location:

Newark, NJ, USA

Year:

2024

Bloomfield Avenue Infill is a mixed-use residential concept in Newark, New Jersey, designed in collaboration with Emineg Architecture for a developer. The project explores how a narrow urban lot can contribute to the life of the street through thoughtful scale, material warmth, and a clear relationship between public and private spaces.

The proposal includes a ground-floor restaurant with residential units above, using a vertical façade rhythm, warm masonry, dark metal windows, and planter boxes to soften the building’s presence within a dense commercial corridor. The design balances an industrial-chic character with a sensitivity to the surrounding neighborhood, creating a building that feels contemporary without ignoring its urban context.

At Intemporal Architecture, we work with developers on multifamily residential, mixed-use, and urban infill projects across the country. Our approach is rooted in careful attention to neighborhood fabric, long-term value, and the everyday experience of the street. We believe that even a single building can improve its setting, bringing dignity, activity, and a more thoughtful architectural presence to the neighborhood, one project at a time.
