Exterior rendering of a New Jersey bi-level home transformed into a warm contemporary residence with a sloped roof, stone chimney, wood entry, dark siding, and large windows.

A complete transformation of an existing New Jersey bi-level home into a warm contemporary residence shaped by light, material, and a renewed sense of arrival.

The design replaces the quiet horizontality of the original house with a more expressive architectural composition: a lifted roof plane, a grounded stone chimney, vertical wood detailing, dark siding, pale panel surfaces, and expansive glazing that brings daylight deep into the home.

Inside, the project opens the house around a double-height living space, where warm wood ceilings, tall windows, a stone fireplace, and integrated millwork create a calm central room for gathering. The kitchen, dining, living, stair, and upper-level overlook are organized as a connected sequence, allowing movement, light, and views to shape the everyday experience of the home.

What began as a conventional bi-level residence is reimagined as a more atmospheric, generous, and enduring home — one that balances contemporary form with warmth, comfort, and a strong connection to place.
